Indie Game Collective Shutting Down
Some sad news today the Indie Game Collective will be closing down. I've been personally involved with the group and have created many indie game showcases that have been a joy in doing. Many don't realize in that providing the service many other creators were able to utilize for free was ultimately the downfall as the services that the Indie Game Collective relied on have become unattainable due to rising costs.
Just to make you all aware that the IGC is closing down for showcases
Sadly our costs just spiked and we couldn't afford to keep it up, and we didn't want to branch away from that main ethos of free coverage for indie developers.
When it comes to this discord, we are considering keeping it open and as more of a community space where we can allow developers and content creators to chat indies together still.
I know some people have asked me about alternative indie groups during our shutdown, and there are a few out there but most tend to cover particular genres or sides of gaming - on that note, if you're part of any indie groups and want me to include them in a post, I am in the process of compiling a few as a resource to post within the server here for people so drop me a DM.
This moment is bittersweet cause while it is sad that we're shutting down like this, we covered over 900 games and helped influence around 430k store page views thanks to all our collective efforts since 2020
Hope that some of you will stick around and hang out here or, if you don't, I hope we'll bump into each other in other indie game spaces
