LiveSpace Moves, Ko-Fi Activity, Bad Mics, and Stardew Mod

LiveSpace Moves, Ko-Fi Activity, Bad Mics, and Stardew Mod

This past week has been pretty busy. There has been a lot of news on the indie game side of things. The Triple I Initiative had its showcase event, in which over 30 game announcements and trailers were shown in under an hour. Which I have to say that there are a lot of games that coming out or are being announced and, those are just the ones shown in the showcase. There are so many more that are out there.

That is why I've been doing some housekeeping and renovations throughout the 2TonWaffle Community. Making a small announcement during last night's Deep Dive stream that the Indie Basement Owncast server will be closing and, in its place the new 2TonWaffle Community Owncast server. There is also the same that will be happening for the forums as well. This changeover will take a little more time but, the new forums are already in place and I'll be making official announcements about them shortly. The Indie Basement name isn't going away, more in that it will become its own thing for the indie gaming space here within the 2TonWaffle Community.

Live Streaming Platform News

  • In the recent T-days With Todd (ep 55) LiveSpace co-founder Todd was asked about the VOD thumbnails returning to non-LiveSpace+ members. Todd mentioned that it's a constant discussion point with the team. Who knows when or if it will become a free feature again? VOD Linknon-LiveSpace+
  • Reminder that Meta is dropping the group API for third-party broadcasting software and tools for Facebook Groups. This will affect many tools like Ecamm Live and others. There is a workaround by retrieving your group RTMP URL and key to put into your broadcasting software.
  • There appears to be a company that is taking Owncast and shipping it out as its own, including using the same versioning numbers as well.

Creator Equipment News & Updates

  • Streamlabs has officially joined forces with TikTok, allowing you to request access to stream to the vertical service through the Streamlabs Desktop software.
  • Ko-Fi is working on an activity feed to place within your OBS install. You can add the beta feature by logging into your Ko-Fi account and getting the URL there.
  • The group Indie Game Collective will be shutting down its services soon. I've been part of the group and have reviewed many games provided through them.
  • We don't talk about microphones a lot around here but, they are an important piece of your kit as a creator. Harris Heller has a recent video on why you should know what microphone you're buying.

Tid Bits of Note

  • zunderscore, one of the devs working on the Firebot chatbot app, has released a Stardew Web API mod. Find the GitHub page here
A mod for Stardew Valley that provides access to some game basic information, actions, and events via an HTTP interface.
  • If you're still on the xtwitter site, it's well past time to move away from there. There are many alternatives like Mastodon, Bluesky, Threads, Misskey, and more.
